Privacy
Last updated: 13 August 2026
This privacy notice explains how RPEL GmbH processes personal data on rpel.ch. The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) is the primary legal basis. For visitors located in the EU, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies in addition.
1. Controller
RPEL GmbH
Schöneggweg 12, 3007 Bern, Switzerland
E-mail: [email protected]
Please direct any privacy enquiries to the same address. A separate data protection officer is not legally required and has not been appointed.
2. What data we process
2.1 Server logs
When you visit rpel.ch our server records technically necessary information: IP address (anonymised or shortened), date and time of the request, page accessed, amount of data transferred, referring URL, browser, and operating system. This data is used solely to operate the site reliably, diagnose errors and defend against attacks. It is not combined with other data and is deleted after no more than 30 days.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website (Art. 31(2)(a) revFADP / Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
2.2 Contact form
When you use the contact form you provide your name, e-mail address, optional company name and a message. We process these details solely to respond to your request. We do not share them with third parties for advertising purposes.
Legal basis: pre-contractual measures and legitimate interest in answering your request (Art. 31(2) revFADP / Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Retention: until your request is concluded; data is then deleted unless statutory retention obligations apply.
2.3 Cookies
Set without consent, because they are strictly necessary: a language cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) that stores your preferred language, and your cookie choice itself (rpel-cookie-consent), stored locally in your browser so we do not have to ask again on every visit.
Google Analytics additionally sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*) – but only if you agreed in the cookie banner. Without your consent analytics stays switched off and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time via «Cookie settings» in the footer.
2.4 Fonts
We use the typefaces Viga, Fira Sans and JetBrains Mono. These are downloaded once at build time and served from our own server (next/font). When you visit rpel.ch, no connection to Google Fonts or other external font providers is made; your IP address is not transmitted to any third party.
2.5 Google Analytics 4
To measure reach and evaluate the use of rpel.ch statistically, we use Google Analytics 4. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, where applicable involving Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
The data processed comprises: your shortened IP address, device and browser information, approximate location at city or country level, pages viewed and interactions, and cookie IDs. We use this data solely in aggregated form, to understand which content is in demand and where the site needs improving. It is not combined with the details you submit through the contact form.
Google Analytics only becomes active after you have agreed in the cookie banner. Until then the tag runs in the default consent-mode state: no analytics cookies are set and no advertising identifiers are processed.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and, under Swiss law, processing in line with the transparency principle of the revFADP (Art. 6 and Art. 19 revFADP). The transfer to the USA is based on the EU-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework; Google LLC is certified under that framework. Analytics data is retained for 14 months.
You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future, via «Cookie settings» in the footer of this page. Analytics is switched off again immediately after withdrawal.
3. Recipients and processors
We use carefully selected service providers, all of whom are contractually bound to comply with data protection rules:
- Hosting — rpel.ch runs on a Coolify server we operate ourselves, in a data centre located in Switzerland or the European Union. No external cloud host independently accesses the site contents.
- E-mail delivery for the contact form — Messages submitted via the contact form are delivered to our address [email protected] through an e-mail delivery service (SMTP or transactional mail provider). A data processing agreement is in place with that provider. The specific provider will be named here once finalised.
- Reach measurement – Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics 4), only after your consent. See section 2.5 for details.
4. Transfers to third countries
We prefer service providers based in Switzerland or the EU. If individual processors (such as the e-mail delivery provider) are based in a third country without an adequate level of data protection by law, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards, and we review the level of protection regularly. A transfer to the USA does take place if you consent to reach measurement (Google Analytics 4, section 2.5); it is based on the EU-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework. Without that consent, only providers based in Switzerland or the EU are used.
5. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access to the data we hold about you
- Rectification of inaccurate data
- Erasure, unless statutory retention obligations apply
- Restriction of processing
- Data portability (delivery in a common electronic format)
- Objection to processing based on a legitimate interest
- Withdrawal of consent with effect for the future
An informal e-mail to [email protected] is sufficient. We reserve the right to verify your identity by appropriate means.
6. Supervisory authorities
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority:
- Switzerland: Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern — edoeb.admin.ch
- EU: the data protection authority of your country of residence or habitual location.
7. Security
rpel.ch is fully encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, manipulation and unauthorised access, and update these in line with the state of the art.
8. Changes to this notice
We may amend this privacy notice, for example if legal requirements or our processing activities change. The version published on rpel.ch is the version that applies.
The German version of this privacy notice is legally binding. This English text is provided as a courtesy translation.
